Green Card, Immigration Backlog issue Moderator Yasser Afghen Yasser Afghen is a digital transformation leader based out of Boston, helping asset management firms transform and create sustained competitive advantage through cutting-edge digital solutions. He lives in Southborough Mass with his family and immigrated to the US a decade back, while stuck in the green card backlog ever since which restricts his ability to help more US companies get competitive advantage making US a global leader in technological innovation. Anirudha Accanoor works in the technology sector and holds a Masters of Science degree in Technology Management from Brandeis University. He has been in the United States since 2008, and spent a good amount of years observing the issues the communities around his face. He wants to explore options around the idea of social entrepreneurship to deal with some of these issues, which in itself will hopefully result in several American jobs. Learning about the hardships similar-minded, very well-qualified individuals who wanted to start something up, he has held back on exploring further on his aspirations. Vasant Marur is a resident of Boston, Mass. He is originally from Bombay, India and came to the United States in Fall of 2003 to pursue graduate studies in Bioinformatics. He works in the field of biomedical research to find predictive markers of disease based on the diet in one of the leading hospitals in Boston. He has been waiting for his green card since 2012 when his petition for Permanent Residence was approved. Rubal Verma is a Product Design Engineer from Lowell, Massachusetts. With over 15 years of professional experience, he has had the opportunity to work with leading consumer electronics brands internationally. He is an alumnus of the University of Massachusetts with a Masters in Engineering. Besides solving technical challenges at work, Rubal loves to teach kids about STEM education.
